Who We Are and What We Do

Who We Are:

We are a family of five (Leevi and Vanessa plus ours 3 little boys) living the farming life. We love when we can look at our dinner plate and see that most or all ingredients are sourced from our farm. A wholesome dinner of beef, potatoes, beans, fresh garden veggies and maybe some watermelon for dessert makes us happy. We truly believe in the value of locally sourced organic foods.  We tap the maple trees in spring to make a year supply of maple syrup. We skip the meat section in the grocery store as we already have our freezers full of beef, pork, and chicken. Our layer chickens provide enough eggs for breakfast and baking. We get our farm grown spelt milled into flour at the local mill to be used in breads, crepes and pizzas. Our goal is to provide a similar food experience for you! We want you to know exactly where your food is coming from. Fresh, local and organic food is our goal for ourselves and for you!

 

What We Do:

We are a Certified organic farm that grows several types of edible beans (Black, White, Kidney and Cranberry) according to organic standards. We strongly believe in the practice of growing produce organically, which means farming according to biomimetic and natural systems.  We work with nature, not against it with synthetic fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. In growing, we rely on crop rotation, cover crops and rest periods to increase fertility and reduce weed pressure. We also raise beef cattle and other small livestock, which helps us rejuvenate the land naturally with their manure.
