From our fields to your Kitchen:

Fresh Acres is a Canadian Organic family farm growing grains and beans the right way. We don't use any shortcuts, chemicals or unnecessary processing. 

We grow most of what we sell and work with trusted farms when needed (each product listing tells you where your food was grown). Ours flours are "cold-milled" in small batches with no added preservatives, bleaching agents or enrichment. Our beans and grains are handled with care from harvest to packaging.

The Full Story:

A Childhood Dream

Our journey began with a childhood dream to become a farmer. Leevi grew up in King City, just outside of Toronto, close enough to the city, yet far enough to still be surrounded by farmland. As a young boy, he was fascinated by the process of growing food and spent countless hours exploring the local farm fields. 

At the age of 9, Leevi’s first hands-on experience with farming came at a local horse farm, where he helped around the stables. By 12, he was working on a sheep farm, and at 17, he gained experience with cattle and hay. A few years later, Leevi and Vanessa launched their own farm business, focusing on growing edible organic field crops like spelt, hemp, and oats.

The Roots of Fresh Acres

In 2018, we planted our first fields of beans, marking the rebranding of the farm to Fresh Acres. A cornerstone of our operation is our commercial grain cleaning system, which includes an air/screen cleaner, gravity table, de-stoner, optical sorter, and polisher. This specialized equipment allows us to maintain the highest food quality standards, ensuring that every product is clean, safe, and ready for consumption. 

Local Support

Each year has brought its share of challenges, but through it all, we've continued to turn our dream of farming into a reality. As a first-generation farming family, we’ve faced our fair share of hurdles, but with the support of the local farming community and a commitment to research and learning, Fresh Acres has slowly expanded to what it is today. 

Farming and Family

Since the birth of their first child in 2016, Leevi and Vanessa have been sharing their farm life with their growing family. As the business has flourished, so has their family (now with 7 sons) who all experience and contribute to life on the farm. Today, Fresh Acres is an organic, family-run farm dedicated to providing Canadians with delicious and nutritious pantry staples. Fresh Acres offers organic beans, grains, and flours at affordable bulk prices, helping families stock their pantries with quality, wholesome goods.

Our Promise:

At Fresh Acres, we grow our crops in harmony with natural ecological systems, utilizing composting, cover crops, green manures, and pasture-based growing methods. We are certified organic by Pro-Cert Organic Systems Ltd.

We never use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides on our crops.
